Visit Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent chat, video conferencing, file sharing, and app integrations. It is part of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and integrates directly with SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Office applications.

Accounting firms use Teams for internal communication (chat channels, team meetings, daily stand-ups) and client interactions (video calls, screen sharing during tax reviews, collaborative document editing). Real-time co-authoring in Excel and Word is available directly within Teams, which is useful for financial modelling and report review workflows. Guest access lets firms invite clients into specific channels or meetings without giving them access to the firm’s broader workspace.

Teams is widely adopted at firms already using Microsoft 365. It is best suited for practices of any size that are invested in the Microsoft ecosystem and want their communication, file storage, and calendar management in one platform. Firms using Google Workspace typically use Google Meet and Chat instead.
